Southwestern College DeVore Stadium & Field House

Devore Stadium

Project: Southwestern College, DeVore Stadium and Field House
Color: Light Stone #009
Finish: Riven Slate Shot Blast
Location: Chula Vista, California
Architect: Gensler

Bridging the Mayan-themed vocabulary of the existing campus with a reinterpretation of Mayan design principles embodied in an adjacent project, Gensler undertook this multifaceted renovation project to improve the spectator experience at the college’s DeVore Stadium. The newly constructed Field House now encloses the campus-facing end zone of the existing 7,200-seat stadium, incorporating expanded locker and training facilities as well as multifunctional classrooms with dramatic views of the field. Monumental stairs, outdoor terraces, and human-scaled masonry and stone cladding tie the Field House to the campus context.

As the modern alternative to stone, cement and slate, Petrarch panels give the impact needed to make designs stand out from the crowd. They bring individuality and style to a building while being extremely durable, low maintenance and highly resistant to impact.  Petrarch panels passed the rigid requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 285 Fire Test Standard.

Manufactured by Omnis, Petrarch’s strength and lightweight features in both 5/16” (7mm) and 7/16” (10mm) thicknesses make it the ideal choice for unique façades. Choose from a variety of colors and finishes to customize your project.
